Is it rude to say FYI?
In conclusion I would say that abbreviations and acronyms make communication among people much simpler and faster. That is exactly what a human want. On the other hand, we should consider if it is polite to use an abbreviation or if our audience understands what the abbreviation means. So, my advice is you can use as many abbreviations as you want but use them wisely. For me “FYI” is a useful acronym and it is polite to use it in communication.
